Bakun District holds ASPUAN di Parentis

In the pursuit to recognize the contributions  of all stakeholders and to address issues during this school year of Modular Distance Learning, Bakun District holds ASPUAN di Parentis on June 22 at Ampusongan Elementary School covered court with the presence of our Schools Division Superintendent,  Gloria B. Buya-ao and her team.

Ma’am Gloria, inspired and  set the mood of the day   as she quoted  the famous statement of Winston Church Hill, “Do not give up.” She also said that we should have an eye of   an artist or sculptor who  will  see beyond and a heart of of an astronaut to teach and touch the future.  We should take challenges as a potential opportunity  to invest in the  child. She then plead to  the stakeholders  that  together, we continue to dream and to find ways.

Meanwhile, Sir Ceasar Luma-ang’s opening statement,”Just entering the gate, you can spell out the kind of leadership the school has”  brought  positive vibes and energy especially to the host school.   He also ignited  the curiosity of participants when he explained the reasons why the  SDO-Benguet is launching  a series of limited face to face  activities dubbed as interface and convergence among Local Government Units of Benguet, PNP (NTF-ELCAC), School Stakeholders and DepEd Benguet cum ASPUAN di Parentis which ASPUAN means A- Always, S-Supportive P-Parents, who U-Understand, A-Adopt and N- Nurture with the theme “Transcending Commitment and Fostering Partnerships amidst COVID 19 Pandemic.

According to him, this was a response on  how  the SDO  will  recognize each other’s contributions in learning. This activity will enable  to collaborate and create quality and relevant  partnership. This is also an avenue to answer queries and provide useful input to stakeholders who may be concerned by the distance learning process.

Likewise, the CID Chief, Ma’am Rizalyn Guznian, eloquently  discussed her piece. She shared  concepts and anecdotes with  true to life examples  on  the  importance of using    Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) in learning. A video lesson in Mother Tongue was also presented.  She then urged the stakeholders to be an active partner of education while she quoted the ancient African proverb, “It takes a village to raise/educate a child.”

Other speakers from the different agencies like LGU, PNP and  Health had skillfully shared their concerns too. The LGU shared their willingness to work with DepED no matter what. The PNP  emphasized  that “Security is everybody’s concern while insurgency is everyone’s war.”  The Health department on the other hand enlightened the participants on their fear on the vaccines against COVID 19. While the District PTA federated president   reported also the conglomerated  accomplishments of the PTA for the whole year.

During the open forum, questions raised were  skillfully and wisely answered by the team  which includes  the SDS, SGOD Representative, CID, Accountant, Budget Officer and Administrative  team.

Finally,  the day was concluded by the fatherly advice and challenge from Sir Glenn Duguis, the Administrative Officer V of SDO-Benguet. Sir Glenn and   his team devoted their extra time with the teachers after the formal closing  to answer more queries specially on some legal matters and about promotions.

With these information laden activities,  the funds from the division office for a free lunch and snacks  and the positive response from the stakeholders, the ASPUAN di Parentis in  Bakun District is successful.
